EI 2018 Assessment Panel Chairs announced

Australian Research Council (ARC) Chief Executive Officer, Professor Sue Thomas, has announced the appointment of five Assessment Panel Chairs for 2018’s inaugural round of the Engagement and Impact Assessment (EI 2018).

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of such an eminent group of people who will undertake the key role of Chair for EI 2018. They bring the experience and expertise which will be essential to supporting the assessment process—the first of its kind in Australia,” said Professor Thomas.

The EI Assessment Chairs for EI 2018 are:

  • Professor Richard Dunford, The University of New South Wales—Social Sciences Panel
  • Professor Gerard Goggin, The University of Sydney—Creative Arts and Humanities Panel
  • Professor John Grundy, Monash University—Science and Technology Panel
  • Professor Terry Nolan, The University of Melbourne—Health and Life Sciences Panel
  • Professor Maggie Walter, University of Tasmania—Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Panel

A brief biography for each of the above Chairs is available on the ARC website.

“The Chairs will oversee panels that comprise a mix of distinguished researchers and highly experienced research end-users from industry, community and government sectors,” said Professor Thomas.

“This will ensure that the panels are best placed to recognise and reward the engagement by universities with industry and other end-users, the university research that delivers real-world impacts, and the support universities have in place for translating research into impacts.

“The ARC is grateful for the contributions of the university sector for the EI assessment processes and we are also enthused by interest shown by members of the industry, community and other sectors in participating in the assessments.”

The EI Assessment round will open for submissions in May 2018, with assessments conducted in the second half of the year. For more information, visit the Engagement and Impact Assessment page on the ARC website.
