TRANSW Virtual Symposium 2020, Nov 17—19 2020

TRANSW Virtual Symposium 2020

The Transport Research Association for NSW (TRANSW) Symposium is normally a real-world, face-to-face event, but this year (2020) due to the pandemic, like so many events this year (2020), it will be a free online event, with a name change to TRANSW Virtual Symposium 2020.

TRANSW is a joint initiative of the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and Transport for NSW, with UTS functioning as the organiser for this year’s (2020) event.

Session topics in this event are:

  • Automated vehicles and their impacts
  • Transport planning: Learning from the past to define smart future cities
  • Network design and analysis
  • City logistics
  • Network modelling: diseases, machine learning and mathematics – how they all can solve transport problems?
  • Mobility as a Service
  • Travel demand analysis
  • Congestion management and pricing
  • Traffic management and control: Data collection, analysis, and interpretation to better understand and manage traffic

All talks will be delivered in the form of a pre-recorded video from invited transport research students and postdoctoral researchers, with a Q&A session following the presentations.

iMOVE PhD projects at the event

We’re particularly pleased to see that two students from our Industry PhD Program are included in the line-up of speakers. Artur Grigorev of UTS will present on his Modelling traffic disruption impact: Deep Learning & simulation project, and Mudabber Ashfaq of UNSW, Modelling traffic congestion as a contagion project. Both Artur and Mudabber are in the session from 12.00—12.45 pm session on Wednesday 18 November 2020.
